Wednesday Trends - Christine

Have you noticed more of a trend lately to color in images with Greyscale - or tones of grey? What I enjoy about this type of coloring is its all about contrast, shade and shadow - so it has simplified the coloring process. It's a great way to practise your shading, the use of light, and it gives you the feel of a black and white or sepia photo, which is such a neat effect.

I've colored up this pretty little girl from the new Blossom By Blossom set in warm greys, grounding her feet with a line from my Multi-Liner Pen. I wanted to have it look like she was standing against a wall casting a shadow with the light coming from her upper left. Then I added some pointillism dabbing the marker straight up and down to add depth to the contrast and shadows, and to give the feeling of movement to the puffy dandelion she's blowing.

Above are the Copics I used - and as you can see I added the tiniest bit of color to her skin - I just couldn't bear for her to look too goth :)

It has a dreamy effect doesn't it? So pull out your grey markers and have some fun playing with Greyscale shade and shadow!
